• EVALUATION OF ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF COPPER NANOPARTICLES PREPARED THROUGH GREEN SYSNTHESIS USING ORIGANUM MAJORANA LEAF EXTRACT
Abstract
Biomolecules present in plant extracts can be used to reduce metal ions to nanoparticles in a single-step green synthesis process. In our study various extracts of Origanum majorana leaves were obtained by employing simple extraction procedure maceration and subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening. The main aim of the study was to prepare copper nanoparticles using aqueous extract of the plant leaves and evaluating its antibacterial activity. Copper nanoparticles prepared using aqueous extract of the plant and other extracts are screened for their antibacterial potential against selected test organisms of two categories such as Gram positive organisms- Bacillus cereus (NCIM: 2458), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC NO: 8244) and Gram negative organisms - Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC NO: 9027), Escherichia coli (NCIM NO: 2345).
