Abstract

Drugs have variety of uses including culinary, medicinal and household usage. Linum usitatissimum is used for long period in various diseases therapeutically. It is used also as a food item unknowingly it has significant nutritional value too. The present review article is aimed to focus on introduction, literary findings and to concentrate on its nutritional bioactive compounds like omega3, fibres, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Considering its therapeutics flaxseed contains polyunsaturated fats which decreases blood cholesterol, triglycerides thereby reduces blood pressure. It also decreases the risk of coronary heart disease, obesity and many more.
